Affiliations,does it really help?

I am a junior structural engineer here in the Philippines and I have this earnest desire of working abroad. But unfortunately, I wasn't that lucky. And so, I am now thinking of acquiring membership from a few Organizations (i.e., ASCE, ICE, etc.) hoping it might help me in landing the job I really want. I just would like to ask from anyone in this forum if this kind of decision is really worth the try. Well, for someone like me, its gonna be a major investment on my part.I just want to be sure I'm not making a mistake. Hope to hear some advice soon. Thanks.
